Fun-a-Day LA is simple, and fun! Artists pick a project, work on it every day in January, and then show their work at the end of it all in a big group show.
The project Ashli Sisk and I are working on, as SiSoDraft, is to create a deck of meditation cards based on the Rhinoceros Sutra, an early Buddhist text purporting that to "wander alone like a rhinoceros" is an effective path to enlightenment. She and I bonded over rhinos a long time ago, so it was only a matter of time before we did this. Each art piece will become a card in the deck representing a stanza in the sutra. Stanzas 1 and 9 will be represented at the exhibition.
