Title: Perseus Roadrunner
Series: Starry Nights

Original acrylic painting by Sarah Soward.
Acrylic on canvas
12x16x1.5 inches

This painting features a roadrunner sprinting headlong across the night sky.

Perseus Roadrunner is inspired by the Perseus constellation. The star arrangement in the background includes Perseus and a fair number of the surrounding stars, etc. I took the liberty of enlarging the molecular cloud/nebula that hangs out in the constellation so that I could make it look like the roadrunner is running through it.

I used a roadrunner for this for a few reasons
1. The constellation is said to look like a roadrunner (by people other than me)
2. I'm a wildlife artist
3. I love combining astronomy and animals!
4. I'm not a fan of Perseus because he ended Medusa, who is one of my favorite mythological figures. I'd much rather have a roadrunner than that guy in my night sky.

Wildlife art is a language of love, hope, and determination.

I painted my first rhino in 1999. There is no stopping me.
