Rhymes with Orange
8x8 inches

Oil on canvas
The canvas is stretched on .75 inch stretcher bars.

This painting went through a number of manifestations and color experiments before landing as a vibrant and saturated zebra hanging out with floating oranges. The background is a rich teal color that offsets the orange and ruddy hues of the zebra and the floating citrus fruit.

I figure if I can make a zebra painting called, "Cantaloupe," it makes sense that I make one named for citrus. Contemporary Surrealism, or whatever we prefer to call what I do, is fun!

The fun side is... floating oranges.

The symbolism side is the running joke that nothing rhymes with orange. I have strong black sheep vibes (I say with a smile). So I often feel like I don't rhyme with anything either, at least, not directly. Indirectly, or in other realms, oranges go really well with lots of things. It's all a matter of context, and finding our people.
